UX UI Designer

Work You'll Do

The UX UI Designer is responsible for working in partnership with the broader product team (including business owners, product management, business architecture, engineering, and designers) to solve complex user experience problems and articulate clear design requirements in a human-centered framework:

  • Represent the voice of the user(s) in business and product conversations and decisions.
  • Participate in user research activities such as user interviews, surveys, and usability studies.
  • Translate research insights into product ideas and solutions.
  • Design user flows, wireframes and pixel-perfect high fidelity mockups at a high level and build out refined details.
  • Prototype concepts for communication with the business, to aid in sales demos, development, and usability studies.
  • Collaborate with other UX designers to translate requirements for use by Engineering colleagues.
  • Understand and incorporate complex technical and business requirements into elegant design decisions based on data, trends, and industry best practices.
  • Present, articulate, and sell design ideas and recommendations to product management and business stakeholders.



UX & Design Team Member Responsibilities

  • Contribute to team standards for "what is good experience design" and design quality, including keeping our UI design pattern library up to date.
  • Be a valued, respected and respectful representative of the User Experience & Design team.
  • Work in partnership with the engineering team to implement UI patterns and ensure visual consistency across all products and demos.
  • Document and maintain user interface design specification and templates.



The Team

Deloitte Catalyst is an organization within Deloitte Consulting with the goal ofbuilding a culture of continuous innovation to drive profitable revenue through the identification, incubation, and actualization of breakthrough ideas in hybrid offerings. More specifically, it is responsible for designing, building, supporting and delivering groundbreaking new products, while managing our existing product portfolio of software, analytics and SaaS-based products.

The User Experience & Design team, of which this role is a part, is central to how we create intuitive, innovative, beautiful and enjoyable products. We strive to learn and understand our users' needs, behaviors, and emotions to yield insights that inform product strategy and guide the design of the experiences we create; and are looking for people who share our passion for translating ideas into relevant and innovative products in to solve business problems.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelors degree and/or 5+ years of equivalent experience in interaction design, HCI, graphic design, industrial design, computational design.
  • Experience creating process flows, user flows, prototypes, highly detailed wireframes and high fidelity mockups for early stage ideas and complex web (enterprise and mobile preferred) applications.
  • Core design skills: information architecture, UX documentation, visual communication and hierarchy.



Preferred:

  • Experience designing from a UI design pattern library.
  • Experience using tools such as Axure for wireframing and light prototyping.
  • Ability to sketch and generate big-picture ideas for early-stage UX work.
  • Ability to seek opportunities to solve problems in unusual and innovative ways.
  • Knowledge of the Agile software development process.
  • Knowledge of web development with familiarity of multi-platform development techniques.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with architects/developers/engineers.
  • Experience working with remote team members in different time zones.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-starter with strong time management skills and the ability to be self-directed.
  • An understanding of what makes an experience good or bad is critical; the ability to think through user problems, translate into reasonable solution designs.
  • Ability to handle working on multiple projects at the same time.
  • Clear passion and enthusiasm for learning and pursuing expertise.
