Our client a major digital advertising is looking for a proven Senior Software Engineer / Technical Lead to join their growing engineering team in a leadership capacity.

Overview:
You will actively develop code while also mentoring and growing the team s technical expertise. This role offers a terrific opportunity to lead and apply technology in new and innovative ways. In this role, you will regularly engage with stakeholders & clients throughout the development cycle. As such, you must have excellent communication skills and understanding of agile practices.

Given the company s fast-paced, start-up environment, the ideal candidate will be a self-starter, a talented engineer and capable of leaning in to support the company in other cross-disciplinary areas including analytics, financial reconciliation, and product management.

Engineering:
Being a project architect for assigned projects
Managing any & all developers who fall under those architect projects
Code Review
Developer assistance
Managing delivery
Checking functionality
Be an embedded resource if we book BML projects with that requirement
Predominantly work as a Backend Developer (70-75% of the time), with the remaining time working as an architect to design solutions.
Any skills working with frontend and/or mobile technologies would be a plus.

Project Management:
Technical Project Manager - assist the PMs in organizing sprint work
Inc. write & review tickets - assist in building the Product roadmap, esp. with technical insight
Account Management - assist in liaising with clients & managing projects to successful delivery w/ a happy client

Qualification overview:
Minimum 10 years of experience working in a professional setting as a software engineer.
Minimum 3 years of experience programming in PHP andOOP
Experience in content management systems; experience in Drupal is a big plus.
Proficient in SQL database design and modeling and querying.
Proficient in NoSQL technologies
Experience with a search platform, i.e. Elasticsearch, Solr,
Deep understanding of fault tolerant cloud architectures, especially based on AWS platform.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with both onshore and offshore teams as well as
Non-technical stakeholders.
Experience working in Agile settings and strong understanding of Agile processes
Proven communication skills both written and verbal.
Able to work in a high energy, fast-paced environment and flexibility to manage change.

Development skills:
Strong experience in Java development / backend technologies required.
Python
Experience in NoSql Databases like Cassandra and MongoDB, and/or MySQL
7+ years of experience with REST or Web Services API development. Demonstrated competence in full life-cycle management of REST or Web Service APIs including specification and system deployment. Familiarity with API authoring and frameworks tools preferred. Experience building RESTful APIs using Flask or a similar microframework
Experience in continuous development/deployment (Teamcity, Github, etc.) essential.
Requires hands-on support for production systems and upgrades, which often occur outside normal business hours

Other skills/technologies that would be ideal:
Experience scaling out a system for major production use, involving hundreds of thousands or millions of concurrent users.
Practical experience in cloud based infrastructures; Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a must. Experience with cloud management services, caching, scale-out and use of cloud APIs. Redis, caching also helpful.
Experience in big data technologies like Spark, Hadoop/HDFS
Multithreading
Can write automation/tooling scripts in your preferred language
Experience with Docker is a plus

Any experience or familiarity with the following frontend technologies would be helpful (however not mandatory):
Some level of experience with HTML, JavaScript library/framework (jQuery, Bootstrap), CSS
Experience with common frameworks: React, Angular, Express
Experience with all major web browsers & compatibility issues therein
NodeJS (MVC, NPM, Pug/Jade)
