Job Description
Job Title: Sr. PeopleSoft Application Administrator
Job Location: Houston, TX
Job Duration: 4 - 6 Months (Possible Extension)

Insights:

Responsible for the daily administration and optimization of PeopleSoft environments, including but not limited to planning, installation, configuration, change control, patch management, and performance monitoring and tuning in a 24x7 environment. Work activities involve all production, development, and test environments for PeopleSoft in Human Resources, Finance, and Student Administration applications.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Collaborate with Unix and Database Administrators with designing, planning, and implementing the PeopleSoft server environments.
  • Write scripts to automate daily administrative tasks.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and use software tools to monitor and manage PeopleSoft health and performance, and provides management with reports regarding PeopleSoft health.
  • Establish requirements and formulate proper documentation to ensure consistency and adherence to standards and policies and procedures, working with product vendors on installations and upgrades.
  • Create and adhere to change control and release/configuration management standards and policies.
  • Monitor the environment for proper operation within established performance and availability expectations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of trends and future directions in PeopleSoft environments.
  • Develop strategic technical implementation plans and work plans for technical teams.
  • Provide training and mentoring to other team members through knowledge transfer activities.
  • Implement and provide support of security measures and products related to PeopleSoft including application installs, upgrades, vulnerability assessment, and patch management.
  • Participate in the design of the IT departmental procedures regarding implementation
  • and security measures for software and hardware usage within the windows server environment ensuring documentation is accurately maintained.
  • Participate in the planning of PeopleSoft and its related utility upgrades and patches, and the development of disaster recovery plans for the PeopleSoft environments.
  • Provide input and technical support in troubleshooting complex issues within PeopleSoft application, software and hardware environments, properly sizing and configuring web servers, application servers, and database servers.
  • Provide applicable support and assistance in defining infrastructure processes and associated components, analyzing improvement opportunities, establishing and troubleshooting enterprise network connectivity.
  • Monitoring system performance (tuning) and analysis
  • Troubleshooting system hardware/software including issue resolution with posting to the report repository
  • PeopleSoft system requirements
  • Build new domains (PIA), configure app server, web server, and process scheduler.
  • Fine-tune app server for performance.
  • Setup Integration Broker within the application.
  • Bring down/up the application when the database is rebooted; Bounce app server, web server and clear cache
