Our Quality Engineer Senior Staff are responsible for test estimates, test strategies, test plans and scripts, functional and regression testing for numerous applications.

What you are good at

  • Perform user story and overall system verification in an Agile development environment.
  • Perform exploratory testing.
  • Defines and implements effective risk mitigation strategies for all testing-related risks.
  • Develops and reviews QA test plans to ensure major milestones, dependencies and critical paths are defined, as well as applying risk-based testing principles where appropriate.
  • Implement test practices, standards and processes, troubleshoot test issues, record test results, track and prioritize defects, participate in product readiness and release decisions.
  • Make sure the automation is constantly running and being analyzed, reporting on failure promptly.
  • Be effective in participating at program, project and product related levels.
  • Participate in technical governance and help negotiate overall product quality standards with development and business teams.
  • Work cross-organizationally both within Schwab and with external vendors, both on and offshore to define environment requirements, identify QA-related tools, develop and execute QA process and testing best practices.
  • Ongoing, continuous improvement in testing efficiency and effectiveness through the use of innovative QA practices and tools, and close collaboration with the development and business organizations.
  • Acts as the escalation point for all testing related issues.
  • Implements and manages appropriate measurements and metrics for the project or release.
  • Directs reviews and acceptance of project work products related to the technology deliverables (including ambiguity reviews).
  • Obtains agreement on cross domain defect tracking and resolution
  • Participates in Design Reviews, Requirements Ambiguity & Use Case Reviews, directs the test automation activities of the team, and complete Root Cause Analysis for any defect slippages.
  • Provides overall QA status reporting and escalate issues/risks in a timely manner to Management and assist in resolution.
  • Coordinates with impacted QA Domain leads on testing activities.
  • Consults with business partners when needed for User Acceptance Testing (UAT) advice and counsel.



What you have

  • 7+ years' experience in Software Quality Assurance, focused on automation.
  • 5+ years' hands on experience in development, execution and maintenance of automated tests; preferably those developed using test-first techniques.
  • Object oriented programming language programming experience Highly desired such as Java or C#
  • 2+ years' experience developing in an Agile environment; preferably Scrum.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Thorough understanding of testing practices (black box testing, risk based testing, system testing, regression testing, exploratory testing, performance testing, etc.).
  • Strong experience with modern tools for logging bugs and managing test cases (ex. JIRA, Zephyr, etc.).
  • Understanding of continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD).
  • Understands and applies good software engineering practices necessary to keep the cost of change of tests low
  • Proven ability of working and leading multiple projects and releases, balancing time and effort for successful delivery.
  • Proven experience driving innovative testing solutions within a complex, enterprise platform.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be a critical thinker and solutions-oriented.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Detailed oriented self-starter, can grasp difficult concepts and large architectures quickly; must be able to quickly grasp complex concepts and learn new technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and to effectively interact and collaborate with all types of stakeholders, both technical and business, peers and leaders.
  • Personality that engages peers and promotes collaborative teamwork.
  • Comfort with frequent, incremental code testing and deployment.
  • Experience working with distributed teams.
  • Experience with Unix, Oracle DB, Selenium, Parasoft SOA
