Job Description

The Software Engineering Manager is our Santa Monica, CA Engineering office.

 

FriendFinder Networks is looking to hire a Software Engineering Manager. S/he will be responsible for managing multiple software engineering teams that are designing and implementing features and functionality to scale and grow FriendFinder Networks Live Video Streaming products and platforms. This key position requires the ability to balance between people management, leadership, and technical leadership responsibilities. S/he will be a key contributor to growing the team by recruiting and hiring software engineers, helping to mentor and lead the current software engineering teams toward building world class software. S/he will be responsible for working collaboratively within their teams, other teams and managers, and senior leadership in creating an engineering culture of excellence.

 

The Software Engineering Manager s mission is to maintain, architect and develop new features and ensure consistent flawless availability. S/he must foster teamwork and a spirit of collaboration among team members across teams and departments.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Responsible for creating a world-class digital offering and supporting the overall customer experience
  • Embrace and advocate FriendFinder Networks coding culture around thoroughly tested, high-quality code and peer code review
  • Motivate, mentor and develop talent while providing vision and setting direction for the team; lead effectively through outcomes rather than tasks
  • Oversee the design and operation of various services, systems and applications
  • Work closely with software engineers, quality assurance, product managers and other engineering teams to achieve high-quality products and features through the software project lifecycle (build, test and release on time)
  • Identify ways to improve design, development and testing workflows
  • Review business requirements/functional specifications and provide guidance on proposed technology solutions, including integrated systems
  • Support continuous improvement of our integration and deployment pipelines
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals at all levels
  • Ensure adherence to architecture standards, risk management and security standards
  • Architect, design, implement, test and deliver highly scalable products

 

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 5+ years of hands on full stack programming experience
  • 3+ years of managing software engineers
  • Expertise with Python and React and related frameworks
  • Expert in object-oriented design and problem solving
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be at least 21 years old or older
  • Must be comfortable with adult content

 

WHAT IS PREFERRED

  • Prior experience with web services
  • Demonstrated record of learning new languages, skills and technologies quickly, with minimal guidance
  • Prior experience with DevOps and related technologies

 

WHAT YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to effectively communicate with stakeholders, Influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Deadline oriented, able to work on multiple projects at the same time in a fast-paced environment
