Job Description:

Software Design Engineer - Responsible for overall design and development of business systems/applications under deadlines. Management of development environment, resources, issues, bugs and escalation to proper channels. Manage communication to development team. Provide status reports to and meet with Microsoft PM or vendor PM to discuss project status. Communicate standards and defend technology and scoping decisions to information technology management and development teams.

Team Overview: The team is made up of Technical Advisors who manage each section of Microsoft's product line. The sponsor looks Windows, Azure, and Office, more specifically at developer and platforms across different business groups, focusing on the developer platform.

Reason behind this role: This is a new role as we need additional support in the wake of new product development. Need someone who can support the sponsor in writing code. The new team needs expertise to develop front end and backend API and .NET applications supporting the application running on Azure.

Day to Day Task -

• 50-70% coding depending on product cycle

• 20% conducting code reviews and design conversations

• 10% various meetings, including daily SCRUM meeting. After that, the day is spent reviewing specs and establishing guidelines with the team and then coding

Uniqueness: This is part of the Office of the CTO which provides exposure to everything at Microsoft. This is a new project and a new idea, which means we are not boxed into a specific product area. This team works on a lot of different technologies and landscapes because we are building something from scratch. There is a lot of freedom to research and learn. This is product that will eventually have millions of users and so this candidate will have a large impact.
