Job Description

Publix Super Markets, Inc. is the largest privately-owned food retailer in the nation with more than 1,200 stores and more than 200,000 associates throughout the Southeast. We are associate-owned, proud of our family atmosphere, and consistently named as one of the best companies to work for in America. We are largely debt-free and renowned for our financial performance as well as our premier customer service. Publix s Information Services (I/S) department is located in Lakeland, Florida and Alpharetta, Georgia and employs over 1000 associates. I/S provides the information technology required for all Publix business units including retail stores and all office and warehouse environments. The Publix I/S mission is to maximize the value of information technology to Publix associates and customers.

Founded in 1930, Publix Super Markets is the largest and fastest-growing employee-owned supermarket chain in the United States. Publix employs over 200,000 associates. They are privately-owned, hold no long-term debt, have avoided layoffs, and continue to grow year after year. Publix and their associates excel in community involvement, volunteerism and environmental sustainability. Their collective commitment to diversity has contributed to their success in being a great place to work and shop.
By emphasizing service and a family-friendly image over price, Publix has outgrown and outperformed its regional rivals. Some two-thirds of its nearly 1,200 stores are in Florida, but it also operates in half a dozen other south-eastern states. Publix makes some of its own bakery, deli, dairy goods, and fresh prepared foods at its own manufacturing plants in Florida and Georgia. Many stores also house pharmacies and banks. Founder George Jenkins began offering stock to Publix employees in 1930; employees own more than a quarter of the company.
