Job Description
The candidate will be responsible for the architecture, design and development of java-based applications, supporting the federal systems. The application portfolio includes Java web applications, Java web services, Java Batches, and PostgreSQL database operations. This role will also support technical analysis and evaluation on tools for security, application utilities and database management. This role demands candidate with strong technical background and skills who can work on new complex technology initiatives as well as perform code refactoring and enhancements for existing applications. The candidate will demonstrate the ability to work independently or under general direction of Leidos management and the federal technical manager. The candidate must provide technical guidance to other software engineers in completing their tasks, enforce design, and code standards; critique code of others by participating in peer reviews. The candidate will participate for architectural portfolio roadmap and planning. Good communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to drive the tasks under multiple constraints.

Education/Experience:
BS degree and 12 - 15 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10 - 13 years of prior relevant experience. Years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
Basic Qualifications
Extremely strong hands on development skills on J2EE Technologies, Spring framework, Spring Boot, JavaScript, and Subversion.
Experience with installation of COTS products and ability to evaluate different tools. Strong concepts on Microservice Architecture (MSA) and SOAP & REST web services.
Requires experience in the following areas: Eclipse, WidlFly, Apache Tomcat, hibernate ORM, JDBC, PostgreSQL, SQL, Subversion, Linux, HTML5, CSS3, Spring framework 4.x (including Spring MVC), Spring ecosystem components like Netflix Eureka, Netflix Zuul, Netflix Ribbon, FEIGN Client, Swagger Codegen etc., iText Framework, POI Framework, XMLBeans, regular expressions, XML, Java 1.8, Java IO processing.
Working knowledge on Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD) set up, leveraging tools like SonarQube, Maven, Jenkins, Nexus, Ansible etc.
Java test automation experience with JMockit mocking and testing toolkit.
The candidate will ensure conversion of mission critical requirements into the enterprise systems solutions that account for design and technology maturity constraints of the system.
The scope of these assignments will include software development tool and server system administration, process improvement, design review, and code review.
Experience in mainframe, COBOL, DB2 and VSAM will be highly beneficial for legacy modernization efforts.
Experience in migration of on-prem applications to cloud platform.
Experience in AWS could platform.
Knowledge and experience in Security controls and the architecture of secure applications.
Preferred Qualifications
Working experience with ServiceNow tool and single sign on technologies, e.g. CAS. Knowledge on encryption techniques at OS and application layer; AES encryption; BouncyCastle, certificates management, HashiCorp Vault & eCODEX products. Exposure to measuring and recording performance metrics, and recommending and ensuring adherence to performance standards. Maintains knowledge of current and developing technologies with emphasis on FOSS (free and open-source software).
