Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a GN&C Principal Embedded Software Engineer. This position is located in Roy, UT. This position will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here.
This job requires 50% travel to El Segundo for first 11 months, and subsequently 10% travel.

What you'll get to do:

  • Design, develop, document, tests and debug hard real-time embedded software containing logical and mathematical solutions.
  • Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of embedded systems for safety and mission critical software.
  • Collaborate with a team of software engineers in an Agile environment to meet critical milestones.
  • Ensure program mandated software standards and compliance criteria are met.
  • Develop in a continuous integration tool chain meeting technical and compliance requirements.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Qualifications:

You'll bring these qualifications:

  • A minimum 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; 3 years with a Master's; or 0 years with a PhD
  • Experience with C++ and object oriented design
  • Experience with developing software for hardware devices
  • Experience developing software for a hard real time system with rate monotonic scheduling and targeting a real time operating system
  • Experience developing device drivers
  • U.S. Citizenship with an Active Secret Security Clearance or higher

These qualifications would be nice to have:

  • Experience with an assembly language or C
  • Experience designing software using UML (sequence diagrams, activity diagrams, class diagrams)
  • Experience in the implementation of GNC algorithms
  • Experience developing in an Agile environment
  • Experience with Ethernet networking
  • Experience with nuclear surety requirements
  • Experience developing missile flight systems software
  • Experience with DO-178C compliance
  • Secret clearance within 6 years or DoD SAP clearance
