Responsibilities

This opening is for an Experienced Software Developer to join the team that manages a customer facing application for auto insurance. Experienced Software Developers on the team make enhancements to the existing Java/ Java Script application to give our insurance shoppers more options and a better shopping experience, as well as changes that will allow us to maintain secure and stable software application. Team members perform front-end (UI) code changes and also provide in support activities during the application outages.



The Experienced Software Developer - Web Development will be part of a collaborative, self-directed product team charged with delivering an outstanding customer experience, leveraging Angular and a modern API strategy. This developer will be responsible for designing and implementing complex solutions including functional requirements, coding, support and agile team principles and leadership. This opportunity requires deep application development skills, writing and collaboration, and strong communication skills.

What You'll Do:

• Collaborate with and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions in full-stack development tools and technologies
• Work with a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices, and full stack systems
• Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, and mentoring other members of the engineering community
• Develop programming specifications; design, code and unit test application code using Software Experience with multiple Java Development KIT (JDKs) or Java Virtual Machines (JVMs)
• Code and test your own code utilizing Best-Driven Development (BDD) and working through issues that arise from BDD

Qualifications

We Are Looking for Candidates With

Required skills:

• 4+ yrs of Professional Experience with Java (including Spring)
• 4+ yrs of Professional Experience with Java Script
• Proficient understanding of Java GUI frameworks
• Proficient in common Java web/GUI application frameworks (e.g. PLAY, Spark, Sping, SWT, AWT, etc)
• Perform front-end (UI) code changes
• OpenAPI Authoring (Swagger)
• Java running on Websphere Application Server
• Continuous Integration technologies (Maven, Jenkins, GitLab)
• Unit and integration automated testing
• REST API/SOAP API
• Splunk
• SQL

Preferred skills:

• Experience with Java and Java Script
• Experience working within Spring Framework
• Intermediate git skills
