Job Description

Piper Companies is currently looking for a Data Scientist in Arlington, Virginia to support an innovative data analytics organization's statistical analysis team on leveraging their proprietary data exchange analytics platform to create valuable insights for their customers.

Responsibilities for the Data Scientist include:

  • Interact with and advise clients on how to create insights out of their disparate data
  • Autonomous end-to-end statistical model creation, including but not limited to identifying objectives, compiling data, sampling/prepping data, feature selection, model comparison/selection, deployment and monitoring
  • Ensure adequate internal control processes around model development, implementation and validation are established
  • Leverage modern statistical analysis approaches such as Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
  • Create rich, engaging dashboards to visualize data

Qualifications for the Data Scientist include:

  • 4+ years of statistical analysis/data science experience
  • Demonstrated experience with R, Python, SQL, and other statistical analysis languages
  • Excellent communication abilities - able to interface and articulate insights to diverse client list
  • Bachelors, Master's or PhD degree in Statistics, Mathematics or similar
  • Preferred:
    • Experience in Machine Learning and/or Artificial Intelligence ( AI )
    • Hands on experience leveraging data from a big data environment (Hadoop, Spark, etc.)
    • Experience leveraging geospatial (MapBox, Google Earth, Earth Engine, ESRI, ArcGIS) or survey data
    • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure, etc.)
    • Experience in Fraud Detection and Automated Quality Control
    • Ability to obtain a Secret government security clearance

Compensation for the Data Scientist include:

  • ,Salary range: $130,000 to $175,000+ depending on level of experience
  • Full Benefits (full-time role)
