A Beacon Hill client is seeking a junior -mid level data engineer for a contract to hire position currently available on their reporting and analytics team.

This qualified candidate will be instrumental in the analysis, transportation, and storage of data leveraged by the department's Reporting and Analytics team. Gaining access to new data sources, identifying relevant data points, determining data quality, migrating databases, optimizing ETL processes, creating data preparation workflows, developing stored procedures, and updating scripts are all examples of this engineer's day-to-day efforts. Opportunities to assist in report development and UI development will also be available.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Improve time to market by enhancing current ETL processes and data preparation workflows.

• Design and develop solutions to support ingestion, provisioning and visualization of complex enterprise data to achieve analytics, reporting, and data science goals.

• Analyze data and system issues to design and implement effective, extensible solutions.

• Setting up applications and data structures, and integrating with internal and external applications and data structures using ETL jobs and SOAP/REST services.

• Support end-to-end development of departmental self-service applications, including designing, coding, testing, debugging, and deploying changes.

• Provide operational support of departmental self-service applications, including change management, incident response, and documentation upkeep.

• Identify and recommend appropriate continuous improvement opportunities.

• Integrate into an Agile (Scrum-Ban) team within a SAFe framework.

• Actively participate in collaborative design and review sessions; pushing innovation while observing best practices.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to capture and articulate technical and non-technical details, as well as elaborate process flows.

• A strong, team-oriented spirit, a mindset focused on learning and achieving objectives, and the discipline to work rigorously while unmonitored.

• An appetite for working in a fast paced, quick changing, environment and spending time on multiple unrelated tasks/projects.

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE

• 2+ years in data engineering.

• 2+ years on a reporting/BI team at an Enterprise company.

• 1+ years as a system admin, application admin or a degree in Computer Science.

• Fluency in multiple relevant languages such as SQL and Python.

• Expertise using data manipulation tools such as Alteryx, Tableau Prep, Stitch, AWS Glue, and SSIS.

• Experience working with structured.

• Expertise using data visualization tools such as Tableau, Informatica, Spotfire, and PowerBI is a plus.

• Python application development experience is a plus.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Good grammar and ability to convey thoughts through documentation

• Experienced illustrating design details and process flows

• Inclined to create and maintain knowledge documents

• Experienced writing both detailed and high level messages for technical SMEs and non-technical reviewers/management.

• Willing and able to effectively communicate with team members in a physical or virtual environment

• Comfortable speaking in front of peers and middle management about design details, root cause analysis, data issues, and other related topics

• Comfortable being a key contributor in demos, ideation session, and other meetings having senior managers in the audience

• Comfortable being actively engaged in team planning, review, and retro sessions

• Enjoys working on a variety of tasks and learning new skills

• Enjoys exploring new/external teams and ecosystems
