Job Summary

 

The Senior Cloud Data Engineer is responsible for the technical design and development activities for implementation of large-scale data solutions in Snowflake to support multiple use cases as part of modern and unified data platform. This role participates in design and development of technology and data architectures to support solutions leveraging best practices for cloud data warehouse migrations using Snowflake Data Cloud.

 

 

 

This position requires strong communication and presentation skills to clearly articulate the value proposition of cloud modernization/transformation to a wide range of stakeholders.

 

 

 

Job Responsibilities



    • Provide support in identifying existing data gaps, building new data pipelines, and providing automated solutions to deliver advanced analytical capabilities and enriched data to applications that support the organization's operations.

 

    • Utilize Snowflake cloud data warehousing shared technology environment for providing stable infrastructure, architecture, best practices, secured environment, reusable generic frameworks, robust design architecture, technology expertise, best practices and automated SCBD (Secured Database Connections, Code Review, Build Process, Deployment Process) utilities.

 

    • Develop, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models, implement of RDBMS, operational data store (ODS), data marts, and data lakes on target platforms in cloud.

 

    • Design, develop, optimize, and maintain Cloud Data Platform pipelines that adhere to ELT and ETL principles and business goals.

 

    • Conduct full technical discovery, identifying pain points, business, and technical requirements, "as is" and "to be" scenarios.

 

    • Lead scoping sessions to generate estimates and approaches for execution.

 

    • Solve complex data problems to deliver insights that helps our business to achieve their goals.

 

    • Ensure quality level of documentation is produced and maintained regarding data solution architecture.



Support Activities



    • Must be able to analyze and troubleshoot data related issues in a timely manner and best practices of the company.

 

    • Identify continuous process improvement opportunities and operationalize solutions for same.

 

    • Maintain Cloud Data Management best practices and standards. Ensure that the best practices are enforced and followed during the development process.

 

    • Assist business and functional leads with day-to-day development, support, and troubleshooting.



Required Knowledge & Desired Skills



    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.

 

    • SnowPro Advanced Architect Certification preferred. SnowPro Core is a must.

 

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience with Data warehousing methodologies and modelling techniques.

 

    • Solid understanding of the Snowflake architecture and be able to apply them for design and development of end-2-end data engineering pipelines.

 

    • Strong Snowflake Developer with minimum 5 years of experience in SQL Development and Data Analysis required to develop new complex data pipelines/warehouse.

 

    • At least 2 full years of recent Snowflake experience (Snowflake atop AZURE).

 

    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Migration, methods to cloud data solutions.

 

    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in working with Batch and Stream data.

 

    • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in Cloud technologies such as Azure - Blob Storage, Cool Blob Storage, Virtual Machine, Functions, SQL Datawarehouse.

 

    • Minimum of 3 years of experience with ETL concepts and tools such as Informatica, Talend, Matillion.

 

    • Experience with Snowflake Multi - Cluster Warehouses, developing SQL queries using SnowSQL, developing transformation logic using Snowpipe, performing CDC using snowflake streams and tasks and using Snowflake Clone and Time Travel. Experience with SnowSQL, SnowPipe, SnowPark.

 

    • Understanding of various performance techniques like cache, clustering etc.

 

    • Experience with snowflake marketplace to ingest the 3rd party data and merge it with existing data.

 

    • Experience in Python or Scala is preferred.

 

    • Big Data development experience using Kafka. Azure EventHub, IoT Hub.

 

    • Experience in Hadoop, Hive, HBASE, Spark is a plus.

 

    • Able to administer and monitor Snowflake computing platform.

 

    • Handling large and complex sets of XML, JSON, and CSV from various sources and databases.

 

    • Responsible for analyzing and building Snowflake SQL Stored Procedures (JavaScript / SQL Scripting).

 

    • Unit Test & Document deliverables.

 

    • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.

 

    • RBAC knowledge is preferred

 

    • Background in retail and/or Manufacturing Industry is preferred.
