Title: Database Administrator

Our financial services client is looking to hire a motivated, resourceful Database Administrator with the desire to be a critical member of our team supporting both production and development environments. This full- time position is responsible for maintaining the integrity, security and availability of multiple databases and provide day-to-day operational and technical support for databases across the enterprise.

The ideal candidate will partner with Enterprise Data Management, Application Development, and IT Infrastructure teams with complex database issues, and provide solutions. This position will also perform troubleshooting and fixing issues so that the IT development teams and end-users have a good user experience.

Job Duties:

• Establish and perform administrator functions such as database management, user management, and storage management using Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL
• Monitor system's health and performance
• High Availability, Security, and Capacity Management
• Create and manage database backup and restore procedures
• Daily, Weekly and Monthly maintenance
• Installations / Upgrades / Patching
• Manage disk space on each drive on all servers and automate alerts
• Monitor SQL Server logs and Windows logs for any Network related or I/O related issues
• Create automation for repeating database tasks
• Assist in developing purge/archive criteria and procedures for historical data
• Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree
• 7-10 years of experience in database administration, information technology, and database architecture
• Understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling
• Experience with Windows and Linux environments
• Extensive experience with database technologies (MS SQL, PostgreSQL)
• Experience with cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure) a plus
• Must have good analytical skills for problem resolution and expert skill level executing SQL Server high-availability technologies (replication, mirroring, failover clusters, log shipping etc.)
