Title: SQL DBA
Location: Remote
Type: 6-12 months contract with a probable extension

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Lead SQL DBA role oversees all the databases and database servers in production and test environments to make sure they're constantly running on optimum performance. This role would also act as a gate keeper to our production environments. In addition to this, this role takes ownership of all dba related tasks and distributes those tasks accordingly to other dbas based on their capabilities.
Responsibilities:

• Dba task management: Includes receiving, evaluating, estimating and assigning all dba related tasks to other dbas.
• Collaborating with other teams on future projects and associated db activities and plan accordingly.
• Oversee monitoring activities on the website database and other DBs and establish benchmarking for performance.
• Predict future performance based on new projects and upcoming events using the performance data collected.
• Maintain and monitor SQL Server Databases while maximizing availability of critical business data.
• Ensure proper DR and HA policies are in place and they're actually followed.
• Oversee required actions to make sure all servers are patched, and the latest service pack has been applied to all the servers while maintaining an effective communication on Server Maintenance and build activities and issues.
• Create scripts to automate administrative tasks.

Position Requirements

• Experience with technologies and best practices for creating instructional materials. Proficient with content creation tools, ideally across a variety of applications, media, and platforms.
• Able to translate technical process to real-world use and to influence users to use all available tools.
• Highly organized, with strong analytical abilities and outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Able to deliver an excellent presentation.
• Patience and a positive demeanor, able to successfully interact with staff at all levels and with varying user capabilities across multiple disciplines throughout the organization.
• Strong communication skills. And willing to work in a team-oriented structure.
• Strong knowledge in relational data management, SQL Server 2008 thru 2019.
• Strong experience and knowledge over TSQL and TSQL based objects.
• Ability to identify slow running queries in and performance tune those queries.
• Identify server's hardware bottlenecks that could affect SQL Server's performance.
• Identify shortcomings in SSIS packages performance and address those issues.
• Work with the rest of dba team to provide around the clock support.
• Willing to learn new technologies and new tools to better monitor/manage the environments.
• Manage security on SQL Server database servers.
• database design and architecture knowledge and experience.
• SQL Replication between local SQL Servers
• Have some knowledge over AWS Redshift and its security and performance management.
• SSRS knowledge is a plus.
• Postgres Knowledge is a big plus.

Education:
Minimum 4 yr. degree in Systems related field or equivalent experience as a DBA/Lead DBA
Microsoft SQL Server certification is a plus.
