Job Profile Summary:


CAI is looking for a Mid level SQL DBA in the Kutztown, Pa. area. This is a long term contract to hire opportunity with local candidates preferred.

Position is part on site, and part remote.

So need to be commutable to Kutztown, Pa

The SQL Database Administrator will be responsible for the development and design of database strategies, system monitoring, improving database performance, and planning, coordinating, and implementing security measures to safeguard databases and the data housed within them.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Install and configure new SQL Servers
  • Database patch management and version control
  • Perform database maintenance
  • Troubleshoot SQL Server outages and issues
  • Ensure all database are backed up
  • Develop and test data recovery plans
  • Evaluate performance of servers and make suggestions for improvements
  • Database access and security administration
  • Database capacity planning
  • Create and maintain database documentation
  • After-hours support for database incidents, application release, and server maintenance
  • Deploy database change scripts provided by third party vendors
  • Refresh data in test environments
  • Create standards for database code
  • Notify developers about resource-intense queries and suggest ways to improve them
  • Monitor application related jobs and data replication activities
  • Advise developers on database design
  • Support developers in the testing of database applications


Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Microsoft SQL Server experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered
  • Required:
    • Strong knowledge of database administration and best practices
    • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
    • Good written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to recognize and resolve system related problems and make necessary decisions throughout the systems process within department guidelines.
    • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
    • Strong interpersonal skills; a team player with proven ability to work across functional areas and all levels of the organization


Preferred:

  • Transact-SQL

 

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard and monitor
