Job Description

Minimum Experience:

  • 7-10 years of IT program/project management experience in systems or product development environment
  • 3-5 years’ experience with Agile development (Scrum, Kanban)

Education:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Business, or equivalent experience

License or Certification

  • PMP Certificate Preferred
  • First level Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I) Required

In the Scrum Master role, you will be the coach and servant leader that the Scrum teams need to succeed and continuously improve. This will be your main duty.

Because we are a small team, you will sometimes be required to put on an “IT PM” hat where you will work in IT and potentially across business functions to launch new projects globally. You will plan requirements with internal customers and guide projects through the entire project lifecycle. You must have an entrepreneurial spirit, a passion for collaboration and a drive to advocate for our customers, both internal and external.

As a Scrum Master (main role):

  • Guiding the team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to delight customers
  • Guiding the team on how to get the most of out of self-organization
  • Demonstrating flexibility and insight, when to push back and coach teams through Agile processes and when to adapt to the non-Agile processes surrounding the Scrum team
  • Guiding the team on self-organizing to fill in the intentional gaps left in the Agile/Scrum frameworks
  • Assessing the Scrum Maturity of the team and organization and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization
  • Removing impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment
  • Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis of healing and problem solving
  • Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
  • Lead/facilitate all Scrum ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Retrospective, Sprint Demos, Grooming, etc
    • Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information
    • Supporting and educating the Product Owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog
    • Providing all support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible, and leading by example

As an IT Project Manager (as needed):

  • Independently oversees programs or multiple projects, of small to large size and complexity
  • Manages the day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of projects
  • Facilitating meetings including preparing agendas and coordinating schedules and materials, documenting meeting minutes, following-up on action items; gathering, organizing and distributing project related documentation
  • Deliver project/program objectives on-time, with quality, within scope
  • Manages the integration of vendor tasks and tracks and reviews vendor deliverables
  • Ability to identify, track, and mitigate risks
  • Facilitates discussion and conflict resolution
  • Ability to understand technical issues
  • Ability to negotiate when decisions must be made
  • Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines

  • Assuring impacted stakeholders are communicated to in upcoming deployments and manage any interdependencies between the deployment and their relevant teams
  • Take the lead on facilitating with all appropriate IT team members around planning and execution of deployments
