About the Opportunity

The Currency & Automation team has an immediate opening for an Senior Network Engineer.

This position will leverage your Cisco expertise as it relates to both hardware and software SDLC lifecycles, maintenance, and support, with an emphasis on Cisco based Nexus platforms. In this role, your skills with automating processes and configuration management will serve to enhance the department's goal for achieving faster to market software versions, automation of key processes tied to currency lifecycle, and developing automation in support of configuration management based on most requested network changes and needs within Operations and Network Engineering departments. You expertise with Cisco hardware platforms covering Catalyst and Nexus for the Core, Distribution, and Access layers will be heavily relied upon for assisting with product selection and yearly capital budget planning to ensure all platforms are current and supported by the vendor.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide Cisco Nexus Hardware and Software selection, request bug scrubs, perform bug scrub analysis, and complete certification testing within the FRB's controlled lab environment.
  • Maintain approved hardware platforms and software versioning lists.
  • Automate maintenance reconciliation efforts across various vendors and associated platforms. Leverage C3, Python, Perl, GITLAB, and Cisco pyATS for automation efforts.
  • Performs resolution of moderately complex hardware and problems affecting application systems.
  • Designs, codes, tests, debugs, documents, installs, and maintains moderately complex software/hardware enhancements to support current release levels.
  • Performs change and problem management using standard tools following FRIT change management policies and procedures for software/hardware propagation to other platforms and/or environments. Ensures conformance with existing system capability.
  • Participates in evaluating design strategies. Identifies potential design problems and makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Utilizes available tools for automation of manual processes.
  • Interprets technical standards to apply programming and design techniques.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT and/or a minimum of 10+ years supporting very large Cisco networks with an emphasis on Nexus based platforms and performing new software or hardware certification testing. Emphasis with performing bug scrub analysis on potential software upgrades is required and based on functions and features deployed within the various FRB supported network environments. Will be a key supportive member within the Currency team where your expertise will be relied upon to ensure all environments are maintained from a currency software and hardware lifecycle.
  • Proven track record with automating and scripting repeatable tasks associated with manual processes and configuration management with Cisco and/or other vendors such as Juniper, Palo Alto, Pulse Secure, F5 BigIP.
  • Agile experience with Kanban or JIRA. A strong desire to embrace and champion using Agile within the Currency and Automation department.
