About the Opportunity

The DNS and Load Balancing team has an immediate opening for a Senior Network Engineer.

Responsibilities of your role will be supporting the conceptualization, engineering, and support of the DNS and load balancing infrastructures in the enterprise. You will maintain hardware and software lifecycles of these environments. Continuous improvement through automation of common processes including troubleshooting and management of devices are also in scope, reducing the turnaround time of operational changes and upgrades. You will also be responsible for the fulfillment of transactional requests on behalf of various business lines and user groups, occasionally requiring consultation. This position may require vendor engagement to resolve complex or involved issues. This role is responsible to the creation and upkeep of documentation of the platforms and environments you support. You will work in a team environment requiring consistent cooperation and collaboration with your peers and will be expected to contribute to technical discussions and decision making requiring the team's input.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide advanced technical support during business hours and non-business hours on a rotating on-call basis.
  • Resolve highly complex or critical incidents involving multiple enterprise services and components, at times in conjunction with peer groups and support teams.
  • Serve as a DDI solutions subject matter expert to internal and external customers.
  • Mentor fellow analysts and operations personnel.
  • Responds to customer requests as defined by management completing assignments in a timely manner with an acceptable level of quality.
  • Provide support to users of Infoblox DDI Services including IPAM reservations, domain registrations, DHCP scope configurations, DNS record maintenance, and other related duties.
  • Create, maintain, and update documentation on all DDI processes, procedures, and design considerations.
  • Work with vendors and internal support teams to update, maintain, and patch all DDI systems infrastructure.
  • Work with project management, clients, network teams, engineering, and design teams to provide DDI support to various projects and initiatives.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of all record types - A, AAAA, CNAME, CAA, NS, MX, SOA, PTR, SPF, SRV, TXT, DK/DKIM, etc.
  • Works closely with peer teams to ensure that DDI is maintained accurately and follows industry best practices.
  • Support and lead various DDI projects that include but are not limited to systems consolidation, process improvement, data integration, and security and vulnerability management.
  • Provide expert level enterprise DNS/DHCP and IPAM architecture, management, and support capabilities. Ensure integration with external platforms is functional and maintained.
  • Must be able to adhere to strict change control policies.
  • TCP/IP based networking (addressing, routing, understanding of OSI model).
  • Packet capture and protocol analysis (TCP, UDP, ICMP, packet dissection).
  • DNS, DHCP, & IPAM (DDI) protocols and security.
  • Provides operational support for production F5 Network infrastructure: Local Traffic Manager (LTM), Global Traffic Manager (GTM).
  • Ability to function well in an environment of multiple high priorities and implementation requirements.
  • Team skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships will working in a virtual environment.
  • Perform other related duties as required.



Qualifications:

  • Knowledge: Progressive knowledge pertaining to concepts and principles in functional area. General knowledge of department/business lines, Reserve Banks, and / or System operations, policies, procedures and technologies.
  • Communications: Strong interpersonal, negotiation, creativity, attention to detail, and oral and written communications skills tailored for the intended audience.
  • Risk Management: Responsible for understanding and applying risk management discipline in decision making and contributing to his or her functions risk management.
  • Decision Making: Works under direction with infrequent checks; follows established methods working within clear-cut policies. Makes decisions when general instructions or established methods indicate action needs to be taken.



Preferred Requirements:

  • Advanced experience/knowledge of Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), and IP Address Management (IPAM).
  • Experience/knowledge of Infoblox DDI platform.
  • Experience/understanding of TCP/IP Networking including OSI Model.
  • Experience/knowledge with diagnosing DDI and network problems using Wireshark and other approved diagnostic tools.
  • Experience/knowledge of network performance tools, both hardware and software.
  • Experience/knowledge of network security remediation and associated implications.
  • Experience/knowledge of deploying and supporting Anycast DNS.
  • Knowledge of network dynamic routing protocols: Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP).
  • Experience with Cisco Systems Products (routers and switches).
  • Experience with Window's DNS Services Platforms.
  • Experience with F5 Networks BigIP Global Traffic Manager (GTM).
  • Experience with F5 Networks BigIP Local Traffic Manager (LTM).
  • Must have Strong verbal & written communication skills. Communications are complete & understandable to target audience. Demonstrates effective listening skills.
  • Works independently with only general direction; appropriately keeps management informed of relevant issues.
