Looking for Scala Backend Developer - Houston, TX (Remote until Covid)

Duration – 12 months

Job Description:

The Backend Developer develops Cloud micro-services, infrastructure, and web applications to support PaaS, IaaS, and CaaS applications. There is one cloud project where the backend services are mostly built with Scala language, and hence the position is particularly targeted for experienced Scala developers. The position reports to the software project manager.

Technical skills – Must-haves

• 3+ years of recent working experiences with Scala programming language
• Experiences with Akka Actor System
• Working experiences of containerization technologies - Docker, Kubernetes
• Experiences with Go, Python, Bash, Linux
• Strong understanding of multi-threading and distributed applications
• Solid knowledge of Restful architecture and use cases
• Knowledge of security principles (Oauth2, JWT, OpenAPI)
• Knowledge of application networking and troubleshooting
• Experienced in application profiling and bottleneck analysis
• Experiences of continuous integration and continuous delivery (Jenkins etc.)
• Experienced in modular design and library development for reuse
• Basic knowledge of NoSQL database

Technical skills – Better to have

• Experiences with Java Spring Framework
• Some experience with C/C++/programming language
• Experience with Google cloud platform and developing applications hosted on Google Cloud Platform
• Knowledge of tradeoffs among PaaS, CaaS, and IaaS cloud-based solutions
• Experienced in application performance optimization (including networking)
• Experience with RPC and/or WebSocket architectures
• Has set up CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, VSTS, or similar tools
