Job Description

The QA Team Lead works closely with the QA Manager to effectively supervise individual test projects and/or the test team. Work assignments are both product and project oriented and may be of varying size and complexity. The QA Team Lead may work closely with the QA Manager for large-scale projects and/or under limited direction on less involved projects. This individual must be strong in their approach to development and be in a position to question a process or approach and/or suggest other ways to address the request or issue.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule all work for which the incumbent is responsible using assigned resources to meet deadlines. The incumbent may be included as a resource to complete scheduled work.
  • Track and manage daily workload of assigned projects and take corrective action to ensure adherence to schedule.
  • Assist team members in writing test cases and recommend additional test scenarios and /or modifications to meet specifications.
  • Provide thoughtful and professional feedback on quality assurance staff performance.
  • Prepare manpower and time estimates for all projects assigned to the team or individual team members.
  • Schedule and lead regular team meetings.
  • Effectively and objectively communicate the status and risks of assigned projects to the QA Manager
  • Assist in the development of QA standards and process improvements.
  • Participate in employee performance reviews.
  • Design, implement and execute test plans/cases based on product functional specifications.
  • Assure program, module and system integrity through thorough testing and adherence to QA standards and procedures.
  • Analyze complex software issues to determine root causes and provide detailed reports to the QA Manager and developers.
  • Validate all written documentation for assignments are complete and accurate.
  • Document software defects in the issue-tracking system and proactively communicate with the QA Manager and software developers.
  • Participate in the design of new modules, new programs and enhanced functionality of existing modules and programs.
  • Stay abreast of changes in the company's computer environment including such areas as operating systems, utilities and hardware.
  • Remain up-to-date with QA industry standards, principles and practices.



Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, computer science or comparable work experience.
  • Five or more years of experience in software quality assurance.
  • Two or more years of computer-related experience in the fields of training or support.
  • Three or more years of Tyler or related software experience a plus.
  • Previous experience with test automation a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Solid understanding and implementation of QA testing methodologies and practices.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Ability to earn QA certification from an accredited organization within 2 to 3 years from time of position acceptance.
