Project Quality Engineer

6 month contract to hire

Immediate hire with a great company working on exciting products. Will be leading project quality engineering functions in and for, design/development reviews, product development oversight and process development. Performing detailed in-process, receiving and final inspections on high reliability EEE space components at the piece part, sub-assembly, and final assembly levels using detailed drawings and established processes to verify conformance to manufacturing and design requirements. Electrical and mechanical assembly inspection and quality oversight of project assembly and test operations. Source inspection at supplier's facilities

Required Skills:

• Minimum 2 years' relevant experience.
• BS degree in Quality, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (strongly desired)
• Experience with high reliability EEE parts specifications, processing, manufacturing, testing, and handling Solder inspection certification to the J-STD w/ flight addendum (strongly desired).
• Experience with performing electronic testing and inspection using portable measuring devices and other metrology tools.
• Practical experience with GD&T and skillful use of metrology tools and gages. Read, interpret, and work from free form drawings, controlled documentation, and processes.
• Have familiarity with industry related EEE standards (ex. AEC Q100, AQEC, MIL-PRF [1] 38535, GSFC EEE-INST-002)
• Have a strong understanding of component selection, screening, qualification, and derating for space flight applications.
• Have knowledge of component failure modes and component reliability.
• Have knowledge of high reliability industry test methods.
• Be able to interpret GD&T symbols & their intent, and determine the appropriate inspection techniques and equipment to be applied.
• Be able to independently perform verifications and document results in a clear, concise, and complete manner.
• Have proficiency in the AS9100/ISO9001 Quality Management Standards
