The client is seeking for an Oracle Database Administrator to provide support to our development and production database environments.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with both Oracle and MongoDB, however, an acceptable candidate would have detailed hands-on knowledge of Oracle and a working knowledge of MongoDB.

The candidate should have strong background in Linux, exceptional analytical/problem solving skills combined with passion for technology and drive for success.

This position requires close coordination with the Engineering, Software Development, Software Testing, and Information Technology teams for our main product development activities.

Responsibilities:

• Provide support to both Oracle RAC and MongoDB environments which includes the specific tasking to:
  • Responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical database systems, ensuring high availability and performance of our mission-critical applications.
  • Design/optimize databases to facilitate simple and complex data driven applications.
  • Identify slow running queries and initiate appropriate resolutions to improve performance
  • Provide technical support to application development teams: Analyzes data, determines the appropriate computing platforms, designs, implements and manages databases and the underlying objects and data structures, including the creation, alteration, deletion and copying of physical schemas, databases, tables, views, indexes, stored procedures, triggers and declarative integrity constraints.
  • Identify, manage, and maintain detection, logging, alert, and notification capabilities, thereby proactively detecting database and application problems
  • Perform database administration duties to help support, maintain, and troubleshoot existing enterprise-wide database instances, while concurrently driving modernization efforts forward. Provide analysis, design, development, and deployment support for customer database requirements

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent with 5+ years of experience
• Experience as an Oracle DBA, Oracle RAC version 12c or higher
• Highly proficient in Oracle SQL and PL/SQL
• Experience troubleshooting problems relating to the Oracle database that may originate or exist in the infrastructure that supports the data store including application server, network, storage, and operating system component/layer
• Experience with SDLC process, coding standards, change control, and version management.
• Hands-on experience installing and administering RAC/ASM
• Strong working knowledge of Linux systems using command line to perform common tasks
• Strong Analytical and Communications Skills required
• Able to work independently and productively under pressure
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment

Preferences:

• Experience as a MongoDB DBA, Mongodb version 4.x or higher
• Proficiency in one or more computer languages, such as Perl, Unix Shell Scripting, and Python
• Knowledge and experience with MongoDB Compass, Robo 3T or similar software
• Good Experience in MongoDB cluster creation and maintenance.
• Experience in MongoDB third-party tools (Robo 3T, MongoChef, etc) to query the data from MongoDB.

Describe the environment:

Application uses oracle embedded in RAC, provides real time reporting, keeping state and adaptation for primary app

Adding data warehouse in Mongo DB

The primary application feeds into Mongo warehouse, tasks crosses over Oracle and Mongo

Replicate production to range from SAS platform on colo facility to individual deployments to FAA; depending on whether countries require systems to be in.

QA environment is replication of what production they are dealing with

Dev environment more fluid; some teams on warehouse; some only work on primary application; some only on warehouse.
