Job Description

The Linux System Administrator(s) will be responsible for Implementing and administering Oracle Linux OS running Oracle RAC Database on physical Dell servers and running PeopleSoft 9.2 on VMware ESXi on Dell servers. Additional responsibilities include OS configuration management and documentation, patch management, virus and malware suppression, application availability, disaster recovery, and hardware/software redundancy support. SAN storage, Fiber Channel, and Network Load Balance/Firewall experience is a plus.

This is a short term, temporary remote role. The job is expected to start on or around September 1, 2021 and will end on May 1, 2022 unless extended at the request of the client, but remains at will employment through the period of employment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage operating system security in accordance with client policies
  • Manage system backups and recovery
  • Manage firewalls and remote access systems
  • Maintain industry standard security technologies to continually monitor for software and configuration vulnerabilities within the primary and secondary data centers that support the Infrastructure
  • Manage patches, system maintenance, and maintain patching schedules
  • Monitor and maintain file systems
  • Monitor operating system performance
  • Plan hardware capacity based on the scope, use, and projected growth
  • Collaborate with other team members and management to deliver customized and scalable solutions
  • Create, maintain, and follow technical documentation detailing system configurations, procedures, and standards
  • Participate in weekly team meetings and attend other meetings as required for project status or issue resolution
  • Provide system availability, performance, and compliance reports
  • Operate and respond within defined SLA metrics
  • Develop and implement automation processes where possible to increase efficiency and accuracy

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Must have 6+ years of system administrator experience with large (100+ servers) hands on data center experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Advanced knowledge and experience supporting Linux platforms
  • Experience with security configuration and analysis
  • Experience with OS Patching and patching tools - Ksplice
  • Experience with VMware vCenter
  • Experience with Dell server hardware
  • Experience with SolarWinds monitoring tools
  • Experience with Korn and/or Bourne shell scripting
  • Hands on experience with Pure Storage and/or NetApp SAN and Cisco and/or Dell Fiber Channel is a plus
  • Hands on experience with firewalls (Cisco and Palo Alto Networks), load balancers (F5 Big IP), and DNS/DHCP (Infoblox) is a plus
  • Experience with Oracle RAC Database is a plus
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Applications is a plus
  • Experience with Oracle Access Manager (OAM) is a plus
  • Experience with management tools such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, etc. is a plus
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Perl, Python, Ruby is a plus
  • Experience with Windows Servers, Terminal Servers, and File Servers is a plus
