Samsung SDSA is looking for a Jr. Network Engineer in our location in San Jose, CA to support the infrastructure that allows engineers to develop next-generation GPUs for the mobile market. Ideal candidate is technology driven professional, who will establish and maintain network performance by building network configurations and connections; troubleshoot network problems. You will be working in a dynamic multi-vendor network environment with opportunity for personal development through training and education programs. The role is open in our office in Austin, TX. Internal title for the role is Network Engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with a team that designs and develops scalable, maintainable, 99.99% available network architectures that meets business objectives and SLAs.
  • Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS.)
  • Perform network maintenance and firmware upgrades including bug workarounds and security configurations.
  • Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
  • Track network usage and trends. Create baselines. Capacity planning
  • Provide tier 1 and tier 2 support and troubleshoot to resolve issues.
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
  • Maximize network performance through monitoring, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
  • Define, document, and enforce system standards. Select and deploy monitoring and security tools. Secure network by establishing and enforcing policies, and by defining and monitoring access. Report network operational status by gathering, prioritizing information.

Job Requirements
Requirements/Qualifications:

  • 2+ years' experience in network engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • CCNA certification required (please include certification number in your resume).
  • Project Management, Problem Solving.
  • Understanding of Data Center environment.
  • LAN Knowledge, Proxy Servers, Networking Knowledge, Network Design and Implementation, Network Troubleshooting, Network Hardware Configuration, Network Performance Tuning.
  • Understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS.)
  • Cisco Routers, Cisco Switches, Cisco IOS, OSPF, Layer 2, Layer 3, advanced IP Addressing, IPSec VPN, Configuration of secure routing solutions, WLAN, LAN and WAN.
  • Experience deploying and troubleshooting NAC for wired and wireless access preferred.
  • Maintenance of Infoblox's DNS, DHCP, and IP address management (DDI) a Plus.


Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of Palo Alto Networks firewalls for Internet, and home VPN traffic.
  • Maintenance of Bluecoat web proxy a Plus.
  • Experience with Cisco Nexus switches, Palo Alto Networks firewalls, Solar Winds a plus.
