DevOps Developer - in a Test Environment

This is a contract to Hire position, mostly remote but would like some travel/time in the office in Raleigh, NC

We are looking for someone with Strong OOP Application Programming + maintaining Jenkins Server

Must Have: Jenkins, Docker, Infrastructure as Code, Linux, Mainframe experience, Cloud knowledge

Must be able to work W2 (Citizen or ), please NO Vendor companies. Must pass a background check.

Description:

As a DevOps Developer you will champion the evolution of our team and systems within the Software Engineering Organization. You will own, evolve and maintain configuration management (CM) processes, continuous integration builds, and development environments. The candidate will be able to define and deploy source control management strategies as well as other processes and tools required for successful configuration management within a banking mainframe and cloud pipeline testing environment.

**This Role is a True Developer automating operational efficiencies across the business, maintaining Jenkins/Docker/Linux Infrastructure, as well as supporting the SDET framework / test automation.**

• 70% Heads down Coding from scratch / Designing Business solutions.
• Designing solutions for both the business and QA testing for any given software problem. 25% May be typical SDET in QA Automation, whereas 45% of your day is “operations” providing solutions between tools that don’t have code solutions. EX) helping internal employees through automation of manual work in various applications.
• Code Reviews – Highly collaborative process with all SDETs. Typically 2 PR reviewers prior to production.
• 30% Infrastructure Administration / Maintenance
• Maintain the servers
• Implementation of CI/CD Pipeline

Technical Requirements

• Applied experience in:
  • Jenkins and infrastructure
  • Setting up and maintaining Jenkins, not just creating jobs
  • Groovy
  • Docker
  • Kubernetes
  • Java or other OOP language
• Ideally 5+ years with Developer Mindset (Enjoys seeking and implementing improvements to infrastructure & code base)
• Familiar with network security protocols, certificates, etc.
• Passionate about maintaining infrastructure
• Enjoys seeking and implementing improvements to infrastructure & code base
• Has a passion for quality and code standards
• Team player in a collaborative environment

• Communication skills & communication style are key (verbal, articulate, communication of project timelines, can answer direct questions, can have an open-ended conversation)
• Must have a “strong personality; you are opinioned on what tools should/should not be used, not just knowledgeable
• Need a self-starter, need someone to drive direction with purpose.
• Innovative- Looking for someone who shares ideas, who wants to see things done better, someone that can show what they brought to previous companies (what improvements). Teams mentality “we will try anything once” sometimes have really BAD ideas, sometimes they are pure brilliance.
