SUMMARY:

Tucker-Rose Associates is seeking a Database Administrator to help support a Program with the US Department of Veterans Affairs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for implementing and maintaining one or more complex databases.
• Analyze the design, development, and delivery or implementation of data solutions, including architecture design, prototyping of concepts to proof of concept, analysis of the development of standards, design, and test plans, code, module design development and testing, data solution debugging, design and implementation of a solution that follows efficient design techniques, and development that meets and exceeds the intent of the design of the data solution.
• Assist with the planning and engineering of the organization's databases.
• Monitor performance, scalability, and security and evaluate existing database design to determine the necessary updates and integration requirements of a new design and to ensure final solutions meet organizational needs.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 8 yrs. experience in managing the routine operations and maintenance of databases and ensuring their reliable and efficient performance.
• Bachelors in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or other Technical discipline is required.
• Experience with a complex build system
• Experience configuring, integrating, and securing database offerings (ex. RDS, Aurora, Casandra, and Dynamo)
• Experience with supporting Linux systems engineering efforts in system design and evaluation, solution engineering, software development, or system administration
• Experience with Database Schema as Code tools
• Ability to design and develop complex SQL queries and reports to retrieve required data
• Experience with database partitioning and microservices
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies or the software development life cycle (SDLC)

NICE IF YOU HAVE:

• Experience analyzing and tuning queries to improve performance
• Experience with Liquibase source control tools
• Experience with code reviews on SQL change sets and work with developers to create and enforce best practices
• Experience with Cloud-native database solutions, including Amazon Web Services (AWS) Relational Database Service (RDS) and DynamoDB
• Experience with installation, maintenance, and administration of PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, or other RDBMS variants
• Exposure to security scanning tools, configuring their use and working with teams to fix vulnerabilities
