To make this happen, we are looking for a Database Administrator to design, build, deploy, and maintain our most mission-critical assets.
Job Description:
The DBA is primarily responsible for management and maintenance of all Microsoft SQL Server instances and databases throughout our environments. This includes designing and building new infrastructure in AWS; troubleshooting
and optimizing performance of existing assets; ensuring the security, integrity, and availability of data; and helping usher in new technologies and strategies for data management. The DBA will collaborate intimately with IT, Software Engineering, and Product teams to deliver comprehensive solutions.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Actively monitor performance and health of production databases and database server instances
  • Troubleshoot and recommend solutions for mitigating issues as and before they arise
  • Conduct regular maintenance and restoration testing on all database systems
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive database operations playbook that includes or addresses:
    • Configuration and security of server instances and databases,
    • Routine maintenance plans,
    • Scalability options and limitations,
    • Backup and replication strategies,
    • Restoration techniques and strategies
  • Collaborate with Software Engineering teams to:
    • Design, build, and enhance databases,
    • Troubleshoot and optimize query or procedure performance
    • Assist in development of highly efficient queries
  • Collaborate with Product teams to:
    • Design, build, and enhance reporting capabilities
    • Assist in development of queries and procedures for analyzing complex data
  • SME for all database operations
  • Flexibility and high availability to address database concerns as they arise (early morning, late evening)
  • Commitment to maintaining up-to-date knowledge and expertise
Experience & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field of study, or equivalent in education and business experience.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience with database administration
  • MS SQL Server required
  • Experience with cloud platforms, AWS RDS experience strongly preferred
  • Understands software engineering practices and SDLC
  • Able to administer, manage, and tune high-transaction production environments
  • Able to work with precision and iterate quickly in a dynamic environment with limited timelines
  • Excellent problem solving and empirical skills
  • Self-starting, team oriented, able to set and prioritize tasks independently
  • Knowledge of Microsoft .NET C# is a plus
