About the Opportunity
Network Services has immediate openings for Senior and Experienced Data Security Engineers, reporting to Lead-IT-Technology .
The primary focus for this position will be the use of data analytics to identify security threats and the support and administration of FRS infrastructure that monitors application databases. This will include the support, provisioning, and applying software updates as well as working with customers to develop monitoring solutions and analytics specific to their systems and applications. With an understanding of databases, enterprise infrastructure, and industry security best practices, you will contribute to efforts and participate in projects to implement an enterprise-wide, unified strategy for the next generation of database security monitoring, alerting, and analytics.

This is a hands-on engineering position where you will develop automation, analyses, and repeatable processes to support service infrastructure and data analysis, ensuring that our infrastructure and products are secure, highly available, and deliver business value to our customers. This position will also partner with customers to analyze business requirements and develop solutions that satisfy database monitoring and compliance requirements.
In addition to day to day support and administration of monitoring tools, you will lead projects that leverage your advanced knowledge of database applications and behaviors, scripting, and data analytics.
What You Will Do:

  • Engage with service customers and lead large scale projects that develop solutions and meet business, compliance, and analytical requirements.
  • Perform evaluation of hardware, environmental, and operating systems and subsystems. Identify possible issues and develop preventative measures. Measure system and application performance to ensure proper operation. Assist/mentor other staff in the performance of these tasks.
  • Perform change and incident management using standard FRS tools. Ensure changes comply with existing FRS system standards.
  • Analyze system events and configuration data to discover security gaps, build analyses to track the extent and remediation of such gaps, and recommend security controls and procedures to be implemented for the purposes of closing these gaps.
  • Lead the discovery and creation of new security monitoring use cases based on the particular business processes and technical configuration of customer systems
  • Participate in and/or lead complex projects in partnership with other team engineers and other FRS staff and resources.
  • Engage in continuous learning and mentoring team members in the areas of security, database application and data analysis, cloud services, and systems administration.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Computer Information Systems, or equivalent information technology degree.
  • Experienced level- 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Senior level- 6 to 9 years of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise with scripting and/or automation.
  • Experience in Bash and Python preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of advanced database concepts and operations across multiple database types.
  • Knowledge and Proficiency in SQL - able to write structured and efficient queries on large data sets.
  • Experience in building and securing enterprise-scale systems required.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience with Windows and UNIX-style operating systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience working with cloud architecture and cloud application deployments.
  • Ability to independently learn security best practices for various technologies, including secure configurations and access model best practices.
  • Experience with Hadoop, Hive, Impala, and Apache Spark preferred.
  • Experience with AWS data services, such as S3, Athena, Glue, RDS, and EMR preferred.
  • Experience with AWS CloudFormation and/or Terraform preferred.
  • A demonstrable understanding of, or prior experience working within a large Agile organization.
  • Certification in one or more of the following: CISSP, GSEC, CCSP, AWS Data Analytics, AWS Cloud Practitioner, SAFe or Security Specialty, or related programs.
