Data Scientist

About This Role:

Researches and implements robust inference methodologies that permit key business insights based on large data sets. Creates scalable and custom models for these methodologies utilizing sampling methods, statistical inference, probability, and machine learning techniques. Works with internal and external clients to define inference problems, including facilitating exploratory analysis and communicating results in a succinct, digestible fashion. More senior roles initiate, lead and supervise research, and oversee and/or manage analysts; play a role in innovation and shaping Comscores market offerings.



What You'll Do:

  • Formulates, implements, and tests both established and innovative mathematical, statistical, and machine learning models
  • Uses statistical theory and psychometric/measurement theory to solve problems related to causal inference, measurement error, and sampling error
  • Interprets findings and reports key insights to internal and/or external clients
  • Explains developed methodologies simply and comprehensively for internal and/or external clients
  • Learns, develops, and applies new model-based and statistical techniques to solve unique problems
  • Develops and maintains modules and services for the data science pipeline and internal teams
  • Contributes ideas and develops vertical roadmap
  • Analyzes information, conceptualizes and defines operational problems
  • Takes full responsibility for analytic research tasks
  • Works with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve data quality issues
  • Owns product delivery
  • Autonomously reaches business answers to open-ended problems
  • Drives automation and efficiency across team



What You'll Need:

  • Master's degree or better in Statistics, Economics, Natural Sciences such as Physics, Computer Science, or a similar degree with a focus on statistical methodology, modeling, and inference.
  • 2-4+ years of related experience with large data sets
  • Proficient in statistical modeling and relational databases
  • Proficient in coding and de-bugging statistical software
  • Experience in statistical programming (e.g., R, Python, Julia, Stan, PPLs, jax, torch)
  • Ability to apply mathematics, probability, and statistics to solve business problems
  • Strong understanding of probability distributions and sampling methods
  • Ability to draw useful insights from data and communicate results succinctly in business terms
  • Ability to collaborate across and develop solutions for multiple teams
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
