Job Description

Responsible for managing the life cycle of business intelligence and reporting systems including defining requirements, data modeling, functional database monitoring and optimization, creating reports, data analysis and user training.

  • Manage the life cycle of business intelligence and reporting systems including:

  • Manage system and develop policies and procedures in regards to security, user access, data governance and general development.
  • Create reports and analyses utilizing multiple UPG data sources and systems for organizational and inter-departmental reporting.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain logical and physical data models.
  • Develop, maintain, enhance and optimize databases, business intelligence/reporting applications and analytical tools in support of business needs for UPG and across the UVA Health System as required.
  • In collaboration with business users, construct data sets on an ad-hoc or routine basis for advanced data analysis or data mining for use with statistical or other analytical software packages.
  • Create complex queries, reports and analyses from single or disparate data sources for business analysis, process improvement, trends analysis or predictive analysis.
  • Scope of reports and analyses may include multiple/all UPG or clinical departments and may require consolidating data across multiple systems including UPG financial, billing and reimbursement, clinical, HR, or telephony data.
  • Understand and support related databases, providing overall maintenance and troubleshooting or logical database issues including monitoring application and SQL processes, database and application level errors and query and database optimization.
  • Develop, implement and maintain ETL processes as required for business intelligence applications.
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned.



MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience: One year of experience as BI Database Developer or related occupation
Licensure: None
Skills: One year of experience with:

  • Excel
  • CSV
  • SSIS
  • SQL Server
  • SQL



PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
