• Designs, develops, tests and deploys new and amended software components within complex system programs and scripts in accordance to agreed development and security standards and processes.
• Packages and deploys operating systems, updates, patches, images and configuration changes across the university.
• Analyzes system logs and identifies potential issues with computer systems.
• Introduces and integrates new technologies into existing environments.
• Performs routine audits of systems and software.
• Installs and configures new hardware and software
• Reviews requirements and specifications, and defines test conditions.
• Designs test cases and test scripts under own direction, mapping back to pre-determined criteria, recording and reporting outcomes.
• Analyses and reports test activities and results. Identifies and reports issues and risks associated with own work.
• Configures software and equipment and tests platform-specific versions of one or more software products.
• Reports the outcome of testing and identifies potential improvements to the process and to the software products according to agreed designs and standards.
• Reviews requirements and specifications, and defines test conditions. Designs test cases and test scripts under own direction, mapping back to pre-determined criteria, recording and reporting outcomes. Analyses and reports test activities and results. Identifies and reports issues and risks associated with own work.
• Assesses, analyses, develops and documents systems configuration changes and represents area at the Change Advisory Board (CAB)
• Installs, secures and maintains servers and end user systems including system performance tuning and responds to service outages
• Carries out the builds and tests in coordination with testers and component specialists maintaining and administering the tools and methods manual or automatic - and ensuring, where possible, information exchange with configuration management.
• Ensures release processes and procedures are maintained.
• Other duties may include project management for systems-related projects, supervising or training computer operators, and being the consultant for computer problems beyond the knowledge of technical support staff.
• Demonstrates a blend of high technical skills and knowledge of client management systems and tools while exercising ethical judgment and responsibility.
• Provides individual and group training on computer technologies to faculty and staff across University.
• Reviews, prioritizes, and processes system audit logs . Initiates and monitors actions to investigate and resolve problems in systems, processes and services. Determines problem fixes/remedies. Assists with the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures while maintaining proper documentation of actions taken.
• Escalates any risks and issues to management.
• Leads a small team of technicians to deliver a high level of end user support
• Takes part in reviews of own work and leads reviews of colleagues' work.
• Initiates activities to increase security awareness and education.
• Mentors and guides junior employees (inside and outside the department).

Qualifications
• BS. Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or any related IT discipline
Experience
• Minimum 8 years of experience in systems administration and client management.
• Administers client management tools such as SCCM and JAMF.
• Apple, Microsoft or Linux certification is highly preferred.
