Is there a cloud platform that can provide a high performing infrastructure and bring costs under control?  Idea DC's mission statement says yes. This will be a remote position; however, the expectation is him/her will be available during EST (GMT-4) working hours. Travel although sparingly after the pandemic restrictions are lifted might be necessary once a year to New York, USA. These requirements are not written in stone and could change on a case-by-case basis with any future hire. This role is a well-crafted intersection of cloud computing, coding, and networking. You will be given a significant amount of independence, where communication and results are the driving force of focus.

What will you be doing?

• Monitoring, Maintaining and Modifying existing infrastructure to operate at a high-performance level.
• Designing Roadmap of future technical enhancements, cost containment of technical infrastructure, and new features.
• Transferring knowledge to Level 2 tech support.
• Documenting and developing new features, modifying existing features, or troubleshooting existing features for customers. Python is the strong preference here.
• Utilizing existing open source and commercial services to strengthen IdeaDC feature set. The goal is not always to reinvent the wheel but utilize what is available via open source or other commercial product. We do not have any inherent bias towards Open Source or towards any specific commercial Vendor.
• You will be taking larger scopes of work, and object-orient them. You will then take those objects and qualify/hire resources to complete those tasks.

Technical Requirements:

• Expertise in ALL OpenStack core components (Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Glance, Swift, Heat, Keystone).
• Expertise in ONE OR MORE Advanced Components of Openstack: Designate, Octavia, Ceilometer, Manila, Ironic, Magnum.
• Expertise in solution architecture and/or DevOps on at LEAST ONE of the following cloud infrastructures: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud, or Oracle Cloud.
• Expertise in Deploying, Managing, and Monitoring CEPH in a highly available setup to provide an uptime of 99.999%. Experience in using CEPH as block, file, and object storage.
• Advanced Technical Knowledge and System Administration experience of 2+ years in Linux.
• Deep understanding in software automation tools such as Ansible.
• Experience in constructing and maintaining highly available OpenStack infrastructures, multi-region and multi-availability zones in OpenStack setup.
• System Maintenance and Upgrade of OpenStack and affiliated infrastructure in live production environments.
• Expertise in Cisco platform NX-OS (Nexus Switches) and IOS-XR (ASR Routers) in a data center environment. Knowledge of VLAN, BGP, and other related switching and routing technologies.
• Deep knowledge of various metrics platform, like Prism, Prometheus, Grafana, Graphite, Sumo Logic etc. 
• Strong software development skills in Python.
• Knowledge of DNS. Configure and maintain DNS Services server-side.
• Understanding of basic e-commerce order flow: Front End User Authentication, DB Usage, Credit Card Authentication.
• Knowledge of container deployment & orchestration e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECS, RedHat OpenShift, etc.

General Requirements:

• Meticulous documentation of current infrastructure as well as future changes.
• Ability to communicate and evaluate technologies driving the evolution of cloud services.
• Being able to train staff from Level 2 Customer Service to Network Operations Center. Knowledge transfer of individual or multiple components to staff, customers, or to outside consultants.
• The ability to complete large and sophisticated projects and break them to individual milestones.
• Ownership of entire infrastructure lifecycle and maintenance.
• Self-Starter and self-motivated.
• During outages, upgrades of infrastructure, and other planned/unplanned will require him/her to be available at different working hours.
• Able to multi-task and prioritize tasks based on their impact on the organization.

Helpful but not Required:

• Experience in Openstack deployments in a multi-tenant service provider environment.
• Full Stack Development encompassing front-end design aspects to back-end APIs.
• Automation Tools such as Jenkins and/or Terraform.
• Certifications in Cisco (CCNP or higher), cloud solution architect (e.g., AWS, Azure) and/or DevOps, OpenStack certification, and/or RedHat OpenStack certification will be valued.
