CDS Azure Solution Architect Role for EDC

Azure Solutions Architect

This position is an Azure Architect embedded with the project teams to develop solutions for Ecolabs diverse business units. The Architect will work with the Commercial Digital Solutions Product and the Development teams to architect and deliver digital products that are “fit for purpose” and “fit for use” leveraging proven and repeatable architecture/ design patterns to optimize speed-to-value and costs. The person selected for this role will work with sector principal architects on multiple projects in parallel to defining architectures and represent those architectures within the development teams. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 10+ years of experience in designing, developing, and architecting digital systems in a wide range of technologies with at least 5 years in an Azure Architecture role.

Required experience and skill set:

• Experience in defining and architecting future-ready commercial and customer facing Digital products and platforms and demonstrated digital architecture thought leadership (big picture thinking).
• Strong experience in architecting ‘fit-for-purpose’ and ‘fit-for-use’ complex solutions on the Microsoft Azure cloud stack [IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS]
• Very strong hands-on experience in using Microsoft Azure services like Azure Data Factory, Data brick services (like processing streaming data using Spark clusters), usage of Blob containers, ESB, Event Grid, Azure SQL server, Cosmos DB, Azure functions, Analytics (like Power BI) is a mandatory requirement
• Excellent understanding of architecture patterns and best practices with proven innovative and leading-edge thinking to build cloud-ready systems (e.g., Domain Driven Architecture, multi-tenancy, building for resilience, scalability, performance, and federation, microservices etc.)
• Integration experience with third-party/external systems, legacy, and CRM platforms (Salesforce, MS Dynamics) is expected
• In-depth knowledge in Web Services, Web API, Restful services, Responsive design applications
• Hands-on work experience on application platforms like .NET, Python, Java etc. preferred
• Understanding of big data platforms concepts and NoSQL technologies, and ability to map such tools to context
• Understanding of container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes and others)
• Understanding of Agile, DevOps and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Ability to put together a comprehensive detailed solution architecture that encompasses business solution, platform and conceptual architecture, integration, execution approach and budget estimates.
• Experience in building quick prototypes and proof of concepts to evaluate and demonstrate the viability of a concept, exploration of a platform or component
• Experience in evaluating and selection technology and platform components for implementation projects
• Strong influencing and communication skills - ability to present solution to IT Leadership, business stakeholders, product, and development teams in a compelling a manner to help them understand why such a solution is required and can justify the rationale of the solution design. Ability to influence in complex situations where stakeholders do not always agree about methods, choices, and strategic direction.
• Experience with developing resource and budget estimates (BOM and staffing)
• Working with global remote teams

Desired Skills:

• Azure Cloud Architect certification will be a plus
• Ability to understand and track new developments of how digital solutions are changing or have the potential to transform current models of business.
• Strong familiarity with emerging digital frameworks and patterns, Information Security and Data access controls
• Knowledge of IoT platforms and data collection solutions to support IoT projects (i.e. business automation, manufacturing, asset management, health, asset tracking, smart utilities, etc.)
• Experience of working with platform/package vendors and their solution teams as part of architecting the overall solution.
• Technical acumen and proficiency in Agile and DevOps methodologies, tools, and governance/standards
• Ability to deliver various artifacts as part of the enterprise application architecture, including implementation models, technology matrices, communications diagrams, application use-case diagrams, migration/distribution diagrams, etc.
• Ability to establish standards around development technology stacks, including languages, containers, frameworks, libraries, and design patterns
• Understanding of software development practices like DevOps and CI/CD tool chains (i.e., Jenkins, Spinnaker, Azure DevOps, GitHub) is preferred
• Experience on estimation based on cloud enablement and hosting techniques
